ARISTOTELIO PANEPISTIMIO THESSALONIKIS

 

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) was founded in 1925 and is the largest Higher Education Institution in Greece and South-eastern Europe. The main campus is in the center of the city of Thessaloniki and covers an area of about 33.4 hectares. AUTH is a multidisciplinary university that comprises 11 faculties and has 40 schools. AUTH holds more than a hundred International Scientific Agreements with Universities in Russia, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, the Near, Middle, and Far East and more than five hundred bilateral agreements with European Universities. Furthermore, AUTH ranks first among Greek higher education institutions in terms of mobility.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has a long-standing experience in Translation and Interpreting studies. From 2003, the Joint Postgraduate Studies programme “Conference Interpreting and Translation” of the Faculty of Philosophy, offers a master’s degree in professional Translation, in six language combinations (EN, FR, DE, IT, ES and RU). In 2014, the Master programme was awarded the “European Master’s in Translation” (EMT) quality label, which was also renewed in 2019. Furthermore, the Conference Interpreting Master Programme, which is supported by the Directorate General for Interpretation of the European Commission, offers the only Master in Conference Interpreting with Greek as A-language.

The members of the DIALOGOS Group are actively implicated in Translation, Interpreting and Terminology Teaching and have participated in different European programs in relevant areas, such as ORCIT (Online Resources for Conference Interpreter Training), a joint project between several European Higher Education institutions, or TRAMIG, an Erasmus+ project for training newly arrived migrants in community interpreting.
